Porch Talk With Johnny Johnsson
Johnny Johnsson, a local mining historian, will be giving a porch talk on July 21, 2019. The talk will be regarding the Elba Furnace, which was built along the Patapsco River near Sykesville in the late 1840s by James Tyson. It was used to smelt iron ores to make cast iron for the B&O Railroad until 1868 when it was destroyed by the great Sykesville flood.

The talk will begin at 2pm and it’s recommended that you arrive early for refreshments and to grab a chair. This is a free event and will be held rain or shine.
