Maryland might not get hit with the same traffic on Easter as it does during the shore weekends, but you can still expect a significant amount of more people on the road during the holiday.

AAA estimates that the worst time to travel will be between 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. today, and the best time to leave for your weekend plans is before noon today. As for coming back home, it’s predicated that Sunday will be a busy travel day, so if your schedule is flexible, come home on Monday and miss the traffic.

Along with a spike in travelers, there will be gas price spikes, of course. April has the second highest monthly gas prices, based on data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. But if it helps make you feel better, gas in California has reached $4.01/gallon, and we aren’t even close to that.

Gas will average about $2.65/gallon in Eldersburg, but here are the most expensive places to get gas in Maryland so you can avoid getting gas there:

  • Crofton: $2.79
  • Bethesda: $2.76
  • Gaithersburg: $2.75
  • Baltimore: $2.71
  • Rockville: $2.69
  • Silver Spring: $2.67
  • Annapolis: $2.65
  • Havre de Grace: $2.63
  • Towson: $2.63
  • Bel Air: $2.61
  • Columbia: $2.60

If you’re planning on traveling by plane, the most congestion is going to be seen at Reagan National, Dulles, and BWI Airport and you should expect some backups.

If you’re planning to travel by car, make sure your tires are filled and the rest of your car is in working order. Can’t let any breakdowns or car trouble get in the way of Easter fun!

Stay safe, Eldersburg!
