Eldersburg has it’s little quirks and hidden treasures, but did you know that there’s a number of you who play pickleball?
What is Pickleball?
Pickleball is a paddle sport that has been played for over 50 years. There are millions of fans across the country and even internationally. Originally invented in Washington state in 1965, this sport is basically “ping pong meets tennis on a badminton court.” The sport was originally invented as a sort of make-shift badminton, so a lot of the same rules apply.
According to the sport’s official website, Pickleball is played on a badminton-sized court with a tennis style net, uses balls that are similar to Wiffle balls, and paddles that are akin to ping-pong paddles, but slightly larger.
You can play Pickleball as singles or doubles. The rules are similar to that of tennis and badminton, but Pickleball is played to 11 points, and has to be won by at least two points. The sport was made for everyone, so no matter your age or ability, you can play!
