On June 19th at approximately 8:07am, Carroll County Emergency Medical Services and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office were notified that a County Roads employee, a 54 year old male, had been injured on a job site in the area of Macbeth Way and Barnett Avenue
in Sykesville.

The County Roads crew was on scene to repair a section of road on Barnett Avenue. As the excavator was being driven off of the trailer, the shift in weight caused the victim to become pinned between the truck and trailer. This was observed by the remaining workers, who took immediate steps to free the victim. He remained conscious and alert while on scene, and was transported by Maryland State Police helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center as a precaution against potential internal injuries.
