On December 14th at approximately 9 pm, the Carroll County Bureau of Utilities received a call for a water main break on Freedom Avenue in Eldersburg, Maryland.

Bureau of Utilities staff and the emergency contractor were dispatched to the site to make repairs to the water line. Repairs were completed at approximately 4 am on December 15th. The Roads Department was dispatched and salted the roadway due to below freezing temperatures. The Sheriff’s Department responded to assist with the road closure while repairs were made.

Upon completion of the repairs water lines were flushed in the area. Residents may experience brown water or air in the lines. Should residents experience cloudy water they should turn the cold water tap on and run water for several minutes until the water runs clear. It is advisable to refrain from using high water volume appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, etc., during periods of cloudy water or low pressure.
