Carroll County Department of Recreation and Parks recently accepted a donation of $30,000 to the Park Legacy Fund from Kenneth Wayman and Catherine McAuliffe for improvements to Piney Run Park. The donated funds will be used to replace and upgrade an existing lakeside gazebo, transforming it into a wildlife viewing area complete with viewing scopes for bird watching and informational signage on local wildlife at the park.

Recreation and Parks Director Jeff Degitz commented that “we are thrilled to receive such a generous donation to make these improvements to one of our most popular parks. We remain indebted to the many citizens who continue to support the Park Legacy Fund as a way to support park improvements for the enjoyment of current and future generations.” Ms. McAuliffe is a frequent visitor to the park who enjoys bird watching and visiting other county parks.

The Park Legacy Fund was established to supplement public funding for parks and donations may be earmarked for specific purposes or locations. For more information about the Park Legacy Fund or Piney Run Park, please visit or email ccrec(Sorry, please remove this text and add the normal symbol.)
